James Chang, MD, is an interventional pain management physician at Alliance Orthopedics in Matawan, New Jersey. He is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as pain medicine.
Dr. Chang attended Yale University from 1997-2001, where he received his Bachelor of Science in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. He then studied at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School from 2001-2006, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine.
Dr. Chang continued to enhance his knowledge with a focus on pain management for the next five years. In 2007, he completed his residency in preliminary internal medicine at Drexel Universityβs Saint Peterβs University Hospital. He then completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York University Medical Center from 2007-2010. Dr. Chang completed his training during his fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey from 2010-2011, where he gained valuable experience in musculoskeletal medicine and interventional pain management.
Before joining the Alliance Orthopedics team, Dr. Chang began his career as the medical director at Monmouth Pain & Rehabilitation Center in 2011. In 2014, he opened his own practice, JKC Pain Mgt LLC, where he still sees patients today. He is licensed to practice in New Jersey.
Dr. Chang is a member of the New Jersey Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He is a diplomate of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as the American Academy of Pain Medicine.
