About Nathanael Burrell:
Nate earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Kean University before continuing his education at the Kean University Department of Physical Therapy, where he completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. His educational foundation emphasizes evidence-based practice, movement science, and individualized patient care.
Nate’s clinical experience spans multiple settings, including skilled nursing facilities, acute care inpatient rehabilitation, and high-level sports performance environments. He has worked with a wide range of patient populations—from medically complex individuals in the hospital setting to Division I and professional athletes in advanced sports rehabilitation programs. His sports rehab background includes a strong emphasis on Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) principles, integrating breathing mechanics, neuromuscular control, and biomechanical alignment into treatment.
With a background as a former personal trainer and youth men’s basketball coach and trainer, Nate brings a performance-driven and movement-focused perspective to rehabilitation. He enjoys treating orthopedic and sports-related injuries, return-to-sport cases, and patients who are motivated to optimize strength, mobility, and overall function. He also values helping everyday individuals regain confidence with daily activities, whether that means returning to work, recreational exercise, or pain-free movement.
Nate’s approach to patient care centers on individualized programming, movement quality, and long-term sustainability. He prioritizes patient education, collaborative goal setting, and progressive exercise prescription to ensure each patient not only recovers but builds resilience against future injury. His goal is to empower patients with the tools and understanding they need to take ownership of their recovery and long-term health.
