About Michael A. Thomas:

Dr. Michael Thomas is a distinguished podiatric surgeon with a patient-centered philosophy that emphasizes individualized care. His approach is simple: he treats every patient as if they were a friend or family member. This mindset drives his commitment to creating personalized care plans that align with each patient’s unique goals and expectations. Through shared decision-making and a multidisciplinary approach, Dr. Thomas ensures the best possible outcomes for his patients.

Dr. Thomas attended New Jersey Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Minors in both Business and History.Β  He then completed a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Dr. Thomas earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed both his Internship and Podiatric Residency at Inspira Health Network, where he gained extensive experience in various specialties. To further refine his expertise, Dr. Thomas completed an additional one year Foot and Ankle Surgery Fellowship where he focused on Deformity Correction and Orthoplastics at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics – International Center for Limb Lengthening at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.

His clinical focus areas include sports medicine, minimally invasive surgery (including bunion surgery), trauma, foot and ankle reconstruction, joint arthrodesis and arthroplasty, deformity correction, limb salvage, arthroscopy, external fixation, and total ankle replacements. He is also a strong advocate for conservative management therapies and treating infections of bone, joint, and soft tissue structures in the foot and ankle.Β  Dr. Thomas has authored several publications in scientific journals and has been a speaker at local, state, and national conferences.Β  Dr. Thomas is double board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Thomas was inspired to pursue medicine because he believes that good health is essential to living a full life. He is passionate about helping patients overcome illness, injury, and chronic conditions to maintain their independence and quality of life. As a dedicated physician, he strives to keep people on their feet, advocating for their health and helping them be better everyday. While he is not caring for patients at Alliance Orthopedics, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending time with his family and friends, hiking, traveling and staying active!

  • Using small cameras (arthroscopy) for less invasive foot and ankle surgery
  • Stabilizing complex fractures with external devices
  • Replacing damaged ankle joints with artificial ones
  • Offering non-surgical treatments for foot and ankle issues
