What to Expect During and After Ankle Replacement Surgery
Ankle replacement surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure, which means you will not need to stay overnight in the hospital. The surgery itself usually takes two to three hours.
After the surgery, you will be taken to a recovery room, where you will be closely monitored. Once you are awake and alert, you can go home with a friend or family member.
You will need to use a walker or crutches for the first few weeks after surgery. Physical therapy will be essential to help you regain strength and range of motion in your ankle.
