He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he also completed a master’s degree in Neuromusculoskeletal Science. He then completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at NYU Langone Hospital, followed by fellowship training in Pain Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Markel specializes in minimally invasive pain treatments, including epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation, trigger point injections, peripheral joint injections, and nerve blocks. Outside of medicine, Dr. Markel is a competitive billiards player and speaks Russian in addition to English.
